About me

I've been a Wikipedian since 2009. Voluntarily, I edited almost-exclusively in Arabic, focusing on featured content in astronomy, history and languages. I co-founded the user group of Wikimedia Levant, and I was elected as its first chair ("Chief Coordinator") in May 2017 and until 2022. Outside the movement, I was Arabic Language Community Advocate for Khan Academy, and a Program Coordinator for the Jordan Open Source Association.

I wrote for publications like Al-Sabeel Newspaper, Al-Kawn Magazine and the Arabic language versions of Popular Science and MIT Technology Review. I'm the author of two Creative Commons-licensed e-books: Hikayat Wikipedia ("Story of Wikipedia", 2017), and Fann Al-Tarjamah wa Al-Ta'ri ("Art of Translation", 2021).

My work

I have been supporting the knowledge management of Movement Strategy since 2019. Currently, I'm a member of the Movement Strategy & Governance Team. My work focuses on two topics: 1. supporting the Movement Charter Drafting Committee, and 2. setting up an information system to document the implementation of Initiatives.

I try to monitor any pages related to Movement Strategy on Meta, as I'm responsible for the process' information. That is a lot of pages, though, so please feel free to ping me or send a message to my talk page anytime to ensure that I see your message!

Previously, I supported the Working Groups in collecting and integrating feedback to the 2030 Strategic Recommendations. I was also responsible for documenting the Transition Phase of the strategy process, including the Global Conversations.
